Transgender Day of Remembrance

For Trans Day of Remembrance 2018, Action for Trans Health London held a vigil commemorating those who were killed this year. We read a list of names, and reflected on the fact that many who died as a result of violence and discrimination against transgender people are not recorded, or known. We took the opportunity to raise awareness about the healthcare issues faced by transgender people in the UK, which can and do lead to early deaths, and launched our Sexual Health Clinic campaign, a move to improve trans healthcare by allowing sexual health clinics to prescribe hormones.

The vigil then marched a short distance to the Department of Health in Westminster, where we entered the lobby, handed leaflets to those inside, and held our minute of silence to the horror to the security guard at the front desk. We were informed that police were called, but we left before they arrived.
